In 2020, a global pandemic threatened Halloween for children. To do something special, my community association created a series of fun events for the children and requested a spooky story to be read live as a part of the festivities. The story and the events were well received and the community once more created special events for the Christmas Season, including another story. What began as creating magical moments for a time of need has turned into a yearly tradition.
The Halloween That Wasn't
The first Halloween story was presented as a challenge. The community requested a flash fiction style story using community prompts. The story was created using 10 locations, 10 tools, 10 monsters, and a group of frightened children.

The Monster in the bay
The second year Halloween story sees a trio of friends going out for an evening of trick-or-treating only to attract the attention of a monster living in the bay. Will the children be able to escape the monster and save their Halloween?
